What ever happened to this deal? Would love to get some of these for Agua Azul.

Here's the extent of the conversations I was having with Seaworthy Goods, this was November 2011. Initially I was thinking of buying the mold and getting them made myself.

    Hello there,

I see you have discontinued the round portlight covers - I am a member of the Westsail Owner's group, I saw the postings.

Are you interested in selling the molds for the round ones? I think there is still a market for them amongst the Westsail owners.

Let me know what you think,

    Thanks,

    Their response:

    Thanks for writing.

We do not want to sell the round PortVisor molds. However if you think there is a market for the round models, we have a counter proposal. If you order a run of 100 per size we would give you a 20% discount and you could sell them at whatever price you wanted. (That size run is worthwhile for us, smaller runs are not.)

Your pricing would be $19.95 for the 9-ROs and $21.50 for the 11-ROs.

If you are interested let us know and we will work it into our production schedule.

    Counter-proposal-counter proposal:

    Hi again,

I don't think a 20% discount would be enough to justify an order of 100 units, but thanks for the offer.

However, at that rate I could still offer it up to the other Westsail owners to do a group-buy, I just wouldn't be doing it to make a profit.

It would take a while to gather the requests. I'll let you know how that progresses, if that still works for you.

    Thanks again,

    Last email:

If you give us an order for 100 of either 9ROs or 11ROs, we'll be willing to produce them. However you want to utilize the 20% discount is up to you.

We'll have to figure out how to handle shipping, but that shouldn't be too difficult.

Let us know how your "gathering" progresses. Depending upon the time of year, it may take 6-8 weeks to schedule and build them.

    Latest from my end:

This was all in November of 2011. I got a pretty soft response from the owner’s group, so I ended up making my own, which I am pretty happy with, they are holding up nicely. See more pics in my album “Portlight Covers”. In all but the crappiest weather they keep the window sill nice and dry. They look pro, fit right in, and don't hurt your leg when you walk into them in rough weather (found that out for sure on the weekend).

Stephen,   Are you still actively pursuing this, or did you give up and make your own?  If you are still looking for buyers, I'd take six of each size.   -Tom Koehl

Steven:  "so I ended up making my own, "  can you tell/show us how you made them?  Looks like a nice solution.

So what's these suppose to do for the boat? Honestly they look like ankle to mid calf cutters. I recall my vw bug had something similar on the head lights but that was all for show and no go, is that the same purpose here?

Because the vinyl itself is soft, there is zero chance of cutting yourself. They bend first. I've had them on for a couple of years now and don't even think about them.

They don't come off at the slightest bump either, they are pretty skookum.

I was thinking about making a whole bunch and selling them for something like $10/per, the buyer would have to get their own clamps. A long cable tie would probably work too,

If anyone is interested, let me know.

    Thanks,

    Stephen
