I think a milestone had just been passed with little, mostly self induced, fanfare. The owners of a WS42 of 38 years have just passed the baton to a previous WS42 owner. All Westsails have a history to them but I guess Bud would be the only one to know if there are any more boats that have had a single owner for as long as the WS42 "Sundowner" was owned and exceptionally cared for as Don and Judy. They have 8mm film and a lot of pictures of the construction of Sundowner which hull was laid up next to Walter's WS42.
I will be working with Don and Judy to promote the story behind this lengthy ownership and promoting it on my website "westsailfortytwo.com". Upgrades and adventures are certainly to occur shortly... starting next week actually.
"Sundowner" has been renamed and will be moving up the westcoast to her new port in Oregon starting on or around the 5th of August. Certainly we will be testing how close she points into the wind and a fair bit of her "Iron Genny" performance on the trip north.
