I am looking for a recommendation for a boat yard in the Puget Sound area where I can get some bottom work done.  I would prefer a yard where I can stay on my boat and where I can do most of my own work.

    Thanks,

    Henry

A couple in Olympia lived aboard during their refit at a local boatyard. I'm curious how you would empty the holding tank while on the hard as I may do this for a month this winter.

The Port of Port Townsend yard allows owners to work on their own boats.  They have best practices/ecology regulations that are pretty much what all yards require work to follow, but are quite owner friendly and owner work is routine there.  They also have plenty of marine trades right there - we used BUMS (http://www.bottomsupmarineservices.com/) -  that make it easy for an owner to supplement one's efforts where and when you want to.

The Port website has the details:  http://portofpt.com/marine-services/port-townsend-boatyard/
