Port Hole Visors - Revisted

First - Does anyone know if there is a company making the round porthole visors again? I know Seaworthy Goods used to make the round ones but doesn't anymore.

Second - Does anyone have the measurements or two spare visors they loan for manufacturing?

Third - I have a very close friend who owns a plastics moulding company in Toronto who I spoke with last week and is willing to help me out. He could make for me or a larger order. I don't know what the cost would be yet, but he can make it in any material or tint needed. If there were design improvements that people would like to suggest, this could be a good opportunity to design what WSer's need.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

First thing is first, what size portlights are you trying to cover.  We have the 4" and 6" aboard and made visors for them.  I can give you the measurements but you didn't mention if you have the 8" portlights.

    Hey Tate,

Good point. I have the 7 and 9 inch ports (measurements being O.D of bronze around glass). Your 4 and 6 inch ports seem really small?? I just thought if others wanted some and we had a large order it might be feasible for others. Regardless my friend would do mine up for free as a favour.

I wanted to see if others had any design ideas that might be do-able. I liked Steve Wylie's setup but wanted something that blends better with my port.

Rob, it sounds like you have the 6 and 8 inch portlights, which I believe were standard on most of the W32s.  Bud could clarify that.  I'm sure a number of us would be interested if the material is UV resistant and rugged enough to take a modest hit from a foot or fender. Can you could get a cost per unit for varying sizes of run?  I have four 6" and six 8" portlights, but not many of the boats have the two on the forward face of the coachroof.  -Tom
