Battery Watering System

    I wrote a post here (somewhere) praising it a while back but darned if I can find it now.

    My 2 banks of 6v Trojan T-105's weren't impossible to maintain but it was a chore.  Each bank (of two) is installed just ahead of the fuel tanks so the battery most forward, closest to the bulkhead (esp to port) was difficult to reach. Thus I would constantly put off topping the batts. 

    The Pro-Fill makes it so easy.  I cannot recommend the Pro-Fill system enough for those with wet cells in hard to get to places.  No cheap but cheaper than buying new batteries because the chore of maintaining them keeps getting put off.

    I would like to put in one of these watering systems.  My problem is that my batteries sit on a shelf and they have only 1/2 inch clearance above the battery posts to an overhead board.

    Can anyone tell me how much the watering system increases the vertical height requirement?

    I believe we have flo-rite and only a couple of inches of clearance.  Two of the four batteries sit on the shelf just under the propane locker.  They're no higher than the posts

    Tate, I used the Qwik Fill system (the post showing the pic reminded me.) All I know is that I could not tell using the system if the cells were topped off (which is, I understand, the core value of the system) and after pumping several times, the next day the batteries would no longer charge. It just seemed like the valves on the floats were not working as designed. One other caveat about that particular system--if you use it for multiple batteries (assuming it works as designed) the batteries must be level with each other in order to fill to the same level. This is specified in the provided instructions.
