Hi everyone,
My wife has MS which makes it impossible for her to climb into and out of the cabin. I am thinking of making a seat on a track that is bolted onto the side of the companion way steps (the removeable factory built sections, not a ladder) , and the upper end has to be telescoping so that it will extend out of the hatch. The seat will have a seat belt and when topside, the back of the seat folds onto the cockpit bridge deck. From there is should be easy to move her over and off the seat and also position her from there into the cockpit area.
I am also wondering if there are parts that can be assembled and provide a moveable platform that can be winched up, manually or electrically? I found it easier in my machine shop/ design business to substitute parts to provide a short cut avoiding building assemblies from scratch.
My boat Polaris has been out of the water for 25 years, and getting pretty close to re-launching her after overhauling the Faryman (2cyl) diesel and other items on the endless to do list.
Please e-mail me, I am in Olympia Washington. Any idea, even bad ones will be considered as long as they are creative and in turn will move me in to a workable approach.
Thank you, Mike Zorn
