Westsailors on Hawaii

It seems work has marooned me on Oahu for the next 2-3 months (LUCKY ME!).

Any Westsailors around that wouldn't mind showing me around theirs? I don't have one of my own (yet!), but I'd love to see as many as I can. I would go check out some of the ones for sale, but, at least for the moment, I am sans rental car, so my mobility is restricted to places I can get to in a gvt vehicle (pretty sure they frown on hitting the beaches and marinas in it).

    Thanks in advance,
    Brian

So it seems they liked me enough to keep me here in Hawaii, permanently. Still looking to link up with any Westsailors here!

If I were you, I'd go see if I could find Gary aboard Elizabeth Ann and congratulate him on his great finish in this years Single Handed TransPac!

Tate, that's the first thing I checked was where the race ended. Unfortunately it is one island north of me, I'm on Oahu.

Brian:  There is a page for members to search the DB.

     http://www.westsail.org/memberdirectory?&tab=1

Though I can't say how accurate the information is... Also search yachts for sale...

http://www.yachtworld.com/core/listing/cache/searchResults.jsp?man=Westsail&N=1783&No=0&ps=30  there was at least one in HI listed a 42 for 37,500 ... live aboard and fix her up at the same time - What fun;)

    Hi from he mainland,

You are not describing where you are on Oahu, is it the Federal Anchorage; at Honolulu Int. Airport Reef runway (noisy but free); Pearl Harbor; the Commercial basin; Ala Wa; the marina by the power plant on the West Coast; Haleiwa; or the Marin Corps base on the N.E. Side? It seems like you can't afford a car rental, but have you tried "Rent a Wreck" the only car that I had that was not broken into  when I rented on Oahu (I do not know if Kamainas of Oahu had the same experience): In any case, you must be in a pretty good shape walking that much. In 1983 I hauled out at Tuna Packers (Ward Warehouse area). Since my divorce I have not been back in Hawaii, so my knowledge is outdated, but you can enlighten us.

    Aloha from Washington State,

    Mike Z

Sorry it took me so long to get back on here. Been busy settling in, buying a car, etc.

I'm just north of Wahiawa, permanently now. Before, I was staying at the hotel on the installation within walking distance of work.

I've been down to the marina on Waikiki, lots of boats there. Seems there are a few up in Haleiwa as well, but no where near as many.
