Improving ventilation below the waterline?

    Would drilling a 3" hole in the walls of the storage space/s cause any issues? I think it would allow air to flow better any thoughts?

    You should own the boat for a while before doing things like that, and if you do, buy some vents. Wood, plastic, teak, stainless, round, oval, square. They are everywhere for sale.
    This way you'll know the dimensions before hacking your boat to pieces.

    I have found a few vents at Dewy and Company that are very nice. 

    I don't have time to wait but do understand your consern. I think a dozen small vents mounted low in the storage bulkheads throughtout the main cabin and v birth will be fine and only allow more air flow.

    Hi Micheal,

    A belated Welcome. After some 18 years in tropical and semi-tropical climes I've found that keeping the boat generally well-ventilated is sufficient to keep the lockers free of mildew and odor. There seems to be enough ventilation from the original construction methods used by Westsail. Keeping the inside of the boat dry is essential, which you are tackling now, and that is a never ending battle with these old girls.
