Bulkhead glassing to hull

    On bulkhead, have any of you reworked some of the bulkheads and glassed them to the hull...? Have you placed foam between the bulkhead and hull or held the bulkhead uniformly off the hull and filled the space with resin / micro ballon mix, and made a fillet, then glassed ...? Or just placed the bulkhead directly on the hull...? All this addresses Hard spot issues...? But our hulls are so thick that this may not really be a problem....? Any input..... The ones that I am referring to support the I beam and compression post...

    Whenever I have reinforced anything in my vessel, I have used Kyntex biaxial fabric. Years ago, I purchased a roll (about 8" wide) of this fiberglass tape from Tap Plastics. Gougeon Brothers/WestSystems has plenty of information on using their products to apply this tape to reinforce bulkheads, etc.

    I put my two cents into this in the Ask Bud section. 

    But again, Westsail always used a foam fillet on the edge of the three main structural bulkheads.  It is not necessary for the furniture bulkheads because they do not go across the hull..  An angular filet between the plywood face and the hull on the rest of the bulkheads is good so the fiberglass lays in well and is easier to wet out with resin.
