We've looked at some of the various windvanes available that would be suitable for the W42 / W43. It's not my intention to open a debate on the subject as there has been plenty written on the subject in the past. We did receive an interesting reply back from the Voyager Windvane folks (http://www.voyagerwindvanes.com/) regarding utilization on a W42 that I thought I would pass along...
"Hi Micheal , thank you for your inquiry in regards to your boat . I think you might want to talk to Monitor our windvane is more suited for smaller boats . You are a very large boat and very heavy and the center cockpit makes not ideal . Windpilot has a unit that has its own rudder powered by a pendulum oar that would eliminate the lines . It is a popular windvane in Europe and he sells that unit to a lot of big boats . Thanks again and with best regards , Peter T."
This is not a stab at Voyager, actually I find it refreshing that they would admit that their unit is not the correct application.
We had hopes that the Voyager would be a candidate for the W42. It closely resembles the Sailomat 601 (which has been used successfully on the W42).
