Hi Patrick , ours is a factory finish boat also . Our junction box is on the forward (bow) side of the compression post .

Curious , why are you taking your mast off ? I have done it 2 times once to paint and once to rewire . I have lowered it down a couple of times . When I lowered it I found that the radius cut out on the mast base was not big enough and it cut the thru deck conduit pipe second time it cut some wires .
