    Hello,

My name is Larry, I'm in Melbourne, Victoria.

My fiancee and I have been saving up for a while to get our dream boat, a Hans Christian 33. We have the means to voyage on a small income, as Annie would put it. It wasn't until recently that we came across a Westsail 32 and kind of had our minds blown. While the HC's are beautiful, I think perhaps they suffer from overpricing when the Westsail will do exactly what we need it to for half the price. That's a significant saving for what we think is an equally beautiful boat.

We get married in October and then leaving for our honeymoon hopefully to find some offshore crewing, gaining a little more experience and giving us time to find the right WS32.

So, I figured this would be a wise first step to introduce ourselves here and have a read!

    G'Day!

    Hello Larry and welcome!

I think you'll find this forum a great resource and a place where actual Westsail Owners are happy to provide information and answer questions based upon their personal experience.

I don't know much about the HC33 except that, when we first started looking for a boat back in the early '90's, we also found the HC33 to be a very handsome vessel. However, when we started talking with other seasoned sailors, the Westsail family of boats kept coming up at the top of everyone's list. For us, we ultimately decided the W32 was the right boat.

We owned, sailed, and cruised our first 32 for about 6 years.  She was simply a great boat and joy to own. Life happens and we sold that boat about 30 years ago. A couple of years ago we decide we had to have another boat and no other would do.. We purchased Questia W32 606 and have enjoyed the labor of love that she is.

Beyond the exceptional strength of design and construction, I believe you'll find that this forum, the availability of parts, build manual, and other Westsail resources are unique among boats now more than 40 years old.

Keep your dream alive and best of luck in your search.

    Cheers.
