I've finally gotten around to joining WOA since purchasing Sannyasin in January. Spring and Summer, I've been pretty busy stripping flaking varnish, cleaning greasy corners and all those other tasks that come with acquiring a used boat. The todo list is still pretty long unfortunately, but I'm still hoping that I might be able to take her out a couple times this year. Anyway, doing all the repairs has forced me to learn a lot and has been great fun as well.

Sannyasin is a pretty interesting boat as she's a gaff rig kit boat (originally named Golden Girl and renamed by the second owner). She's currently berthed in Jersey City, NJ and is my first boat. I hope to fix her up, sail her a lot, and keep her for a long time.

Anyway, I just wanted to introduce myself before I start posting questions.

    Welcome Nathan !

I remember Golden Girl well. She is one of the most beautiful and unusual examples of a W32 around. I had the pleasure of sailing in tandem with her on the way to the Florida Keys for an afternoon some years ago. Too bad I never even thought about bringing out my camera.

    Congratulations.

    Nathan,

Congratulations on acquiring your W32.  She's the most traditional-looking boat in the fleet that I'm aware of, with her gaff rig (I hear there is, or was, one other one with gaff rig), wood spars, traditional sidelights, etc.  Hope to see you when I bring Second Wind down the Hudson late next spring.   And welcome to the WOA!
