Ok! After a bit of a delay, We have the dates and venue set for better late than never 2019 SoCal Rondy!. Pine Avenue Pier Long Beach has been a great, lively venue in the past. Boats can all line up along the big Pier in the middle of the action. This has been a fun venue, in the past. We wont be competing with the crowds of Pride parade weekend and once the Transpac boats clear out the weekend before Rainbow Harbor has reserved the dock for us for July 19th. We will get separate registration forms and formal announcement posted up under “upcoming events” shortly. Having lost Kirk to NorCal for a bit - he has been a great host and organizer for a good few years now- we’re pulling it together a bit last minute. With all my work travel this year getting a program together for Saturday night hasn’t come together, yet. But in past years it’s been fun to cater in a buffet from one of the restaurants at the top of the dock and just just hang out. Open to any further program suggestions. Co- hosts include myself, Ron Elder and Don and Nancy Hughes - so thank you guys for also stepping up.
One of our favorite Westsailors, with decades of bonfide world cruising under his belt promises to attend but not to repeat his performance of walking stone cold sober straight off the end of the dock in the dark - which my kids still remember from the last time we hosted here.
Bud should be around as well.
If this is a bit short notice for some, I apologize but sounds like this weekend works for at least 5 or 6 boats I’ve reached out to offline so far. We will also organize the October sail-out to the Isthmus again, so if you can’t join us in July that’s another one to keep in mind. I’ll get that posted soon too. second or third weekend in October (whichever is the weekend after the pirate debauchery weekend) was a good choice the two times we pulled that together so will probably target that again.
All welcome, Owners and wannabes with or without boats at Pine Avenue so please join us!
Friday night will be a potluck. Saturday will be catered in at $20 (or so) a head. I’ll be collecting final head count and $ Friday night.
Registration is in 2 parts. Register attendance (if you are coming with or without a boat) on WOA website sign up for us to get an idea of who to look out for and a head count for Sat night.
If coming with a boat you must also make a boat reservation through Rainbow Harbor. They will need each boat attending to complete and return their Guest Policy agreement. WOA will not be making individual reservations for boats.
Guest slips are $1.30 per foot, per night with a 18ft. minimum.
