Jay :

This looks pretty nice: but you may have to pop out allot of those chips (they are some bits That are broken off under where you see the cracks)  try to pry one little chip out and you may find a little pothole 1/4 to 3/8 dia. where there was just a half circle of that dia.

To use any gel coat repair, the full and complete bond is important! (so you may end up digging out many of the little potholes.  But It looks like a ? gelcoat with wax?  If it works well, I may need to try some!  I have a few spots that need touch up. I had planed on doing it the old fashion way, with gel coat and blending pigment, then painting with vinyl for cure. +/- , and sanding back to level.

In any case, I hope this works well, they did not have that much info on the web+/-

I am not sure what is in the stuff Jay is talking about

(It May have other stuff beside gelcoat which is not a great glue in its' self)

But they come up with new and better stuff all the time, It is just hard to tell if it is better until some one tries it out.  Please note;  Jay has been at the forefront in this regard, see his writeup on soundproofing the engine room, I do have to say thanks to Jay for trying stuff out, and reporting back on the result.

p.s. I would love to find a good repair that does not take to much time; thus allowing more beer drinking to be done.

thanks for the comments - surface prep will be a major part of the job... with gel coat the color has to be matched - with the magic esy product at least you have choices.  

They have a crack filling and chip filling versions... guess I'll be taking a best guess...

A bit off topic but directed at Mark:

I don't normally drink beer while sailing (kind of like a coke bottle shaken = I don't feel so good)  But at anchor, or at the dock a cold one is so great!!!!!

For myself; I have found it works out much better to drink the beer after the work (it somehow comes out better)

But thanks for the time saving though, I just don't multi task well, so I work, then drink which leads to eating then sleep. The next day starts it all over, which seams like a great thing. :)
