The saltwater intake for the galley and bathroom sinks on my boat are located in the bilge, it's hard to open and close the valve daily.

    Where is yours located?

Carl:  When I started working on Pygmalion the sea water intake for the galley pump was - about 8" away from the head black water port.  I've since removed the sea water intake and intend to use the engine sea water intake with a seperate valve for the galley sea water supply.

I've also seen the sea water intake for the head / galley on the stb side forward with the black water and sink drains on the port side forward.  I like this seperating but you do have an extra hole in the hull.

Jura's head/galley sink thru-hull is on the port side, just aft of the bulkhead separating the head and fore cabin.  The hose from the thru-hull leads to a bronze (Groco...I think) strainer and then splits to provide both the head and galley sink with sea water.  I like the arrangement.  The thru-hull is a sufficient distance from the black-water head discharge and the strainer provides an easy way to inject anti-freeze in the system for winter layup.

The hose run from the head to the galley is a long run, but the previous owner was wise enough to thread a nylon line through the bilge to facilitate pulling new future hoses through.

    Jay,
I am considering using the engines intake seacock also for the bathroom sink, galley sink and a deck wash down. I am about to re-do all my thruhulls so I will be in a position to locate valves anywhere I choose.

Have you given any thought to the arrangement of the fittings if you deide to use the engines intake?
