Today I will be sailing with 83 other boats in the Salty Dawg Rally from here in Hampton Virginia to Virgin Gourda in the British Virgin islands, a journey that will probably take me 14 days. Thanks so much Jay and thanks too to all who kept me company on the 11 day passage. Even though there were 83 boats in the rally, I did not see another boat during he entire passage, but I was able to use my Inreach satellite device to stay in touch with friends and family and update my blog. Technology has really made a huge difference to the solo sailor over the past decade from LED's, to GPS to AIS and satellite communications. Safety at sea has come a long way.
