    Hi all,

we're wanting to retro-fit tank monitors onto our W42 water and black water tanks. As discusses on other threads, not easy to access! Anybody got any helpful experience in retro-fitting and any suggestions for which monitors to go for?

    Thanks,
    JAne

Jane - We have installed the Hart Tank Tenders on our W42 Abake.  www.thetanktender.com  We don't have a track record with them yet, but the theory is sound, installation is very simple, and they were highly recommended by other cruisers that we know.  They are not cheap though.

For water tank senders, I am using WEMA brand devices. Considered by many to be very reliable.

For black water, in our 28 footer we tried the cheap Xintex/Firebuoy tank monitors but had all sorts of problems with it before it stopped working altogether. Not recommended.

I think the best choice for a black water tank monitor would be an ultrasonic type sender. No moving parts and nothing to foul. But they are not cheap. I have no experience with them either.

Thanks you both for those helpful suggestions, we´ll look into both supplliers. Another problem may be getting hold of them in either mexico (where boat is) or UK (where we live) We´ll check with our British chandler if he can get them.

    Many thanks,
    Jane
