Last year we built a hard dodger by wrapping core cell around the existing dodger frame.  Then we took it home to finish.  If you don't have a frame then you could just as easily make it free hand using core cell.  It has a slot on top to attach a bimini, speakers and red/green lights.  It was one project that exceeded our expectations.  Here is a link showing the construction photos.

Thanks Michael, it actually looks better than the pictures show.  I used 1/4" Core Cell, a closed boat building foam. There are other materials that would also work and I should have used 3/8". The 1/4" required me to use several more layers of glass then I should have to get the appearance or thickness that looked right.  I think I had five or maybe six layers when two would have been enough if I had used thicker Core Cell.  The glass was mostly purchased at Tap plastics,  although some heavy glass I found at the Club.  Paint is two part Detco by Sterling which I believe to be the best marine paint there is.
