Volvo 3 cyl for sale, cheap!

    So, I'm pulling my Volvo out and, re-powering. Everything engine related is up for sale.

      The good: it ran all day for 8 days straight and, quit when one of my tanks went empty. She blew a bit of steam the whole time but, no water in the oil. A little oil in the water though so, probably needs a head gasket. I just bought the boat and, I haven't even found half of the stashed stuff all over the boat. I know there's an extra transmission, I think I saw a couple rebuild kits. Impellers for days, filters, etc, etc. It's fresh water cooled, and, I must say, she started every time and ran smooth the whole shakedown from San Diego to Port of San Luis. The tank emptied 5 miles out of the destination point and, after a 30 hour trip around conception point and, the afternoon spent changing filters and attempting to prime what I'm sure is a clogged fuel line, I decided I'd cash in on that towing I pre-paid for. 

      The bad: I'm fairly sure she could use a rebuild. If I were gonna keep her I'd at least change the head gasket. She is definitely a leaker. Fuel, mostly. Not a fun bilge issue so, taking her apart and putting her back together wouldn't hurt.

      I'm in San Luis Obispo(Avila Beach) area in Central Cali. Take it all for, idk, $2000.00? And, I'm going electric so, when I say everything engine related, I mean, the salt water intake thingy and, the heat exchanger, you might even be able to talk me out of a seacock or two. I'm still ripping things out so, it will be a few days till everything is extracted. I'm really not interested in parting anything out. Just want it gone by the time I'm ready to put her back in the water. Hit me up for any pics.

    a WOA member who back in 2014 or 2015 went the elec way (?)  so He should have a year or 2 with the elec drive.

    Check twice before jumping into a frying pan it may not be what you want.

    Thanks for the warning of caution but, I'm on the green power train. I'm a bit of a purist and, also a diesel mechanic and, I am thrilled to get this thing off my boat. Would have pulled it today but, the yard Mgr was too busy to get on the forklift. Every bolt I touched was loose. I can't believe the prop didn't pull the shaft right out of the tranny on a reverse maneuver. Tomorrow as I wait for the guy to get the forklift over to the boat, I will begin the task of removing the ancient electronics. Those are all up for sale too! An old Faruno radar and, idk what brand of fathometers. One for each side! I have to get the prop off too. If you want to check out if the motor will work or not in the long run, my YouTube channel is "Chasing Captain Fatty". The facts will be there for the whole world to see! The electric system I'm installing is Electroprop.com's Islander design. 

      Not to fear all you disbelievers, I'll have a 3k propane generator to back up the system and, probably an impressive amount of solar and wind. Bud did tell me of a gentleman that had converted to electric but, I believe he didn't have the generator. The generator technically makes the system a hybrid but, I'll be able to match the distance of most, with that and the solar. Honestly, I've never really motored at hull speed for more than 20 minutes or so. Like I said, I'm a bit of a purist so, my motor is for the marina and, emergencies.

    Please keep us advised on the electric drive conversion and consider joining the Westsail group on Facebook where it is much easier to post pictures. I have an idea for a hybrid drive that I want to build one of these days soon. I just rebuilt my old Volvo  MD11C but still want to make the conversion.
