I'm looking at getting a new barometer and clock for my boat and have been looking at Wempe, Weems & Plath, Chelsea, and Nautilus. Does anyone have any opinions? I'm looking at a decent quality $200-400 range.
I found a Wempe barometer stuffed into a drawer after we bought the boat, so I'm wondering if I should send it out and have it serviced.

I recently (January 2012) purchased a Weems & Plath "Atlantis" series 4" Clock and Barometer.  They were not inexpensive, and having had them in the boat for a couple months I am not impressed.  The Clock sometimes loses time (3 hours on one day, 10 to 20 minuites on others) and other times it runs fine.  I've replaced the battery twice thinking it might be the cause, but there are still days when it runs slow.  The actual clock movement is just a basic quartz unit with a battery, it looks like what you can buy in a craft store.

The Barometer has not maintained accuracy, I have reset it numerious times, but it just keeps getting off.  I'm not talking about a couple millibars off, it is 10 to 15 millibars off sometimes.  Even allowing for local weather changes I think 10 to 15 millibars error is too much.

On previous boats I have had Chelsea Shipstrike Clocks and matching Barometer.  They have worked flawlessly.  I thought I might save a few boat dollars buying the Weems & Plath for this boat, but I guess I got what I paid for...They do look nice however...!

    Just my 2 cents.
