Hello all,

i just put my staysail boom boom back on.  I have been scooping it for the past couple of years.  I want to make certain that I have it correctly mounted. Could I get a few photos from those whom still have theirs mounted that will show the forward setup?

Hi Bryon , this first picture shows the post mount that the boom bolts onto and the eye bolt that the pelican hook goes into . The head stay connects to the pelican hook and the tack for the staysail is on a shackle . I made a wood staysail boom and SS goose neck . the wood shell blocks are for the mainsheet . Congratulations on putting back on the Staysail boom .

Hello Bryon,  To be specific, the Staysail is not rigged to the forward end of the boom.  It is only rigged to the inner stay and flies above the end of the boom.  The boom pedestal should be approximately 9” aft of the eye bolt usually used to attach the stay.  The tack of the sail should be attached to a pendant to allow the tack to fly approximately 12”” above the bowsprit.  The 12”, or more if necessary, should allow the tack to fly just above the pedestal and boom end.   I regret I can not accompany this post with photos.    The Westsail was originally set up with a 1/2” threaded rod to mount the pedestal.  This was not sufficient and needs to be bigger.  I am using a 3/4” rod.     Good luck
