My original Morse engine control needs rebuilding, as the fast Idle button is usually stuck.  How do you get it out ?  The hole in the cockpit is too small and getting at the back side to partially disassemble it is near impossible.  I've seen Utube  videos for ski boats, where they mount the controller on a much larger backing plate to be able to have a bigger   hole for the removal.
