John and I had the opportunity to sail with my favorite guy pal - Dave King.
When you're berthed across from Saraband, its difficult not to look out our awesome teak hinged doors (Dave's work) admire Saraband and dream of sailing aboard her with Dave at the helm. The leprechaun was on our side on Sunday. The weather was perfect for getting out, hoisting sails and learning the best sail plan given the conditions. 

We're hauling out in May to have our rudder faired and replace our caprails. Pulling the engine to do some TLC, new motor mounts, hoses, and maybe - the final death of the pocket book, a new max prop if our current one is broken.

Yes, that's the plan. Our cap rails were built out of 4 strips of teak glued together (kit built boat) and something had to be done. We've been weighing all the options. New teak is expensive. We have seen Steve and Carmen Van Tuyls' boat and think it looks nice. We will have Dave King supervising us. We are not necessarily trying to get rid of all our teak and are planning to add a teak eyebrow on the outside. We'll post photos when we get there.

We are also aware of the concern that movement in the hull/deck joint could potentially cause cracks in the new fiberglass. We have decided we will try to test this modification thouroghly by doing as much ocean sailing as possible...
