In this thread, we all lament the inability to post images easily without being strong armed into using Picassa.

I keep bugging WA and at least they are working toward working better with the smart phones and IPADS - but no release date is firm ie not the next release (Dec?) anyway.

Actually - a Windows user can copy / paste from a web page (not just picasa) image into the forum - Mac's seem to manage the URL at this point.

Tate's Blog - the link to the left was created during an edit event - by using the Link tab from the tool bar that is open when creating/editing a topic.  Maybe the tool works with MAC's.

Jay I may have asked before but here goes again.

Can we save photo's through you to the WWW.westsail.org file server

    i.e. http://www.westsail.org/photos

with the "photos" part  of the above being ADDED buy you as a new folder, and then they (New photos)  could go through you to this new file, maybe id them by: member # then photo name??????

? are we traffic limited (photos do take up allot of band width if they are big) see the toggle for how I handle the small and large photos, the small ones are in the article and the big pictures are called up from clicking on the small photos.

But if we are stuck, then I guess we will have to keep as is, but you may lose stuff as time goes on and the outside links change.

    Thanks:
    Norm

Norm: Go to View Membership bottom left column and in your profile you can add albums and images.  If members reduce the density of the images like 72dpi or so that would minimize disk space usage - which we would have to pay more as we use more...

What I don't see is a way for members to add images to the forum from their albums - a major problem/failure with the software.

This is why I like the picasa / google copy and paste as a work around - you get 1 G free space and for $5 per year 20G!

Jay Here is the issue when linking to My profile album. (it needs my logon to be active) i.e. it is a reserved space on the server (assigned to the user i.e. me)
So the profile thing will never work as I see it.

But I do see the need to someday capture the images to be held within the Woa in case ? other servers or companies have issues

Norm:  Most of the images used on the WOA Site are also on our Google picasa site or the youtube site.

Yes linked images from other albums could disappear - so I do a lot of downloading from other picasa sites to WOA picasa account.

I noticed that my above post has a blank image --but when I clicked on it is saw the image.  Do you see the same thing with your login?

I don't understand your point Norm. " (it needs my logon to be active) i.e. it is a reserved space on the server (assigned to the user i.e. me)"

No modern provider would allocate reserved disk space associated with a user account. That would not satisfy scaleablity requirements.

Is it your concern that if you drop your membership, your photos and posts will vanish from the WOA site?  If so, that could be handled by marking expired memberships as "inactive" rather than deleting them.

    Jay,

I have the same thing happening to me.  I cannot see the photo but if I click on it, I am able to go to the direct link for the photo.

If you have a contact with WA, I would pressure them to just allow the use of html image tags or image board tags, which are used by almost every other major bulletin board style service.  Very easy to do.

    Thanks,
    Tate
