    Greetings folks.

I thought I'd introduce my crazy self. I purchase W32 Little Bear this spring.

Learned to sail on the Great Lakes but have had a dream of doing some serious bluewater crusing for the last 30 years. The time has come. I'm chronicling this phase of life over at http:\\wakeforme.wordpress.com

Little Bear is  currently on the hard undergoing a refit.  I've taken the bottom back to gelcoat and previous repair fairing compound.  I'm going to barrier coat / coppercoat her bottom soon then I'll move on to the rigging.

Fair winds, following seas, and God's blessing,

    Paul

    Paul:

Thanks for checking in - your project is moving along.  I added an image of your boat to your post...  Looking at your bottom removal .. how did you collect the dust?  in CA we have to use full dust collection...

Do check out our  Picasa album  as well as the (full members area) Westsail Fixes & FAQ

    Do keep in touch.

    Welcome aboard.

We're 'supposed' to collect the dust too.  Hang tarps, and put plastic on the ground. However, the wind is blowing so even with preventive measures most of the dust just gets blown around.

The majority of bottom paint I took off with Franmar's Gel-Strip. Worked pretty well where there was gel coat underneath but where there was fairing putty (bow and stern) it stuck like snot to a screen door so I used an angle grinder.  Any dust left on the ground I sucked up with a shop-vac. And after that I hosed the washpad down.

I'm going to barrier coat with Interprotect 2000, and then Coppercoat. Hopefully I won't have to do this odious chore again!

    Thanks for the welcome.
