Our family has just purchased a Westsail 32 in Portland, Oregon.  It was sold through Passion Yachts sailboat brokerage.  The boat apparently has spent most of its time in the fresh waters of the Columbia River.  The boats’s name was Pop Corn and it’s hull ID number shows that it was produced in June of 1974.  The Coast Guard Documentation shows that it was first registered in 1978.  I am assuming that the four years difference between the production date and registration is because it was likely sold as a kit boat because the owner transported it to Winchester, Idaho where it was completed.  If any members out there can give additional information I would appreciate it.

My wife, Cathy, and I purchased the boat with our son, Andrew.  He plans to live in the boat in Portland after we do some cleaning and repairs and eventually do some serious traveling in it.

Congratulations on your boat. You're in the right place for any Westsail questions that will arise. I'm also a new owner and the way to tell if you have a kit boat is seeing the letter K in the first four letters of your HIN . My boat was built August 74 and is hull #203 WSSF02030874 . Cool to see we're only a couple months apart.

    WSSF ( Factory )

    WSSK ( Kit )

Happy New Year and again congratulations and welcome aboard
