Volvo MD2B Fuel Injectors

H.D. Armstrong is in the yard here in Indiantown with me and ran into problems while bleeding his injector feed lines. Rather than just bleeding at the end of the return lines, he completely loosened the lines going into the injectors in order to bleed them. Unfortunately, when reattaching them, he inadvertently cross-threaded the fittings on both injectors and now cannot stop them from leaking.

I'm trying to help him resolve this dilemma, as (like most of us) this expense is NOT in his budget.

Looking at the parts list at VolvoPentaStore.com, it appears that the male fitting attached to the injector can NOT be replaced, without purchasing the entire injector (at $900 each).

I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this same problem and found a work-around. Alternately, has anyone replaced their MD2B and has access to the injectors at a somewhat more reasonable cost. He would also be interested in replacing the feed lines, if possible.

    Any help would be appreciated.

There's a real good chance I have a spare set of new ones in my spare parts kit that I'd be willing to part with for a reasonable price - but I won't be able to access my tool kit for a day or so. Burning the candle at both ends right now and have minimal time.

Would new injectors do the trick, or is the thread hooped on the other end?

Thanks, Stephen. I'll pass it along. I know he'll appreciate whatever help you can give, as he recently had some unexpected expenses.

Sorry, Stephen... I answered this on my phone (which is a BIG challenge on this site). I missed your last question.

The threads are indeed messed up on the injector side and the other side looks OK. However, the one that's worst had a newly fashioned feed tube using shorter connecter, which may be why it cross-threaded so easily. At any rate, yes... new injectors should fix the problem.

    Hey Jack,

I bought an MD2 a few years back for spare parts. Gave it to a guy here locally in return for him pulling the starter and heat exchanger for me. He still has it in his shop. I'll check with him when I get back in town and see if I can get the injectors.

I'll call you early next week if I have any news.

And I know a guy here that has two MD2B's in storage, and a third on hand. He was going to give them to me for parts, but reneged when he bought a boat that had one, but I'll call him up and see what the current status is.

My new-old-stock parts might be worth a decent percentage of my re-power project, so I may have jumped the gun on offering a good deal, but let's see what happens.

Got a whole toolkit full of gaskets and the link, spare primer pump, etc. Repower is on the horizon, but not imminent, so I am a little hesitant to part wi
th all of it quite yet.
