I am a relatively new W32 owner and am trying to configure the yankee. I converted the staysail to roller furling and have a Kern Jib (looks like about 100% to me and a yankee which looks very small. The first time hoisting the yankee with the roller furling its about 6 feet too short and will cause a halyard wrap unless I add line to the bottom of the sail. Is this normally the way the yankee is configured. It seems like this will place it very high but if I add a halyard block to prevent the wrap then I couldn't use the other Jib. Any input will be appreciated.

Thanks Tyler I'm enjoying watching your progress. Yep I think I'll have to make up a pendant (i believe its called that) I was just surprised that it will cause the sail to be set very high up.

Ahoy Greg,

You mentioned that you converted the Staysail to roller furling.  Is the Headsail also roller furling?  I believe that the Kern sail you are referring to is the Yankee, and is a "full hoist" sail, and the much smaller sail is a working jib, - not a full hoist sail.  Both sails should be tacked down as low as possible.  If they are on a furler then both would be tacked right to the furler.  The pendant would be at the head of the sail, as Gary stated.  This pendant is best left on the sail even when  bagged.  The Yankee should not need a pendant.
