Ahoy!
Tortuga and I are embarking on this years singlehanded LongPac race starting tomorrow. This race is out 200 miles to a specific line of longitude and back. Given the wind direction and sea conditions I'll be sailing off at an angle to make the mark and not a straight line out before heading back to the bay.
My start is tomorrow at Noon. It's looking like lots of wind so that shouldn't be an issue!
I should finish sometime on Saturday baring no issues.
We are not carrying transponders and there are no Yellow Brick trackers like the Transpac. I will be texting my position via sat phone twice a day to the SSS site tracking. It will look odd as we are added to the tracking as we report our position so depending on the time when people submit their position and it gets updated, the boats on the course could look off kilter somewhat.
The race site to follow along is here:

Additionally I will be sending email updates the race committee if my sail mail cooperates. (I usually can only get the right propagation in the wee hours at night) and they will be adding those updates to the site as well.
Carpe Diem!
