I'll be posting more information soon - we had ~60 for Saturday dinner and probably 70+ over the weekend wandered the docks and viewed 10- W32 and 2 - W42 and 1 - W43 in the San Leandro Marina.  Once again the San Leandro Yacht Club were great hosts for our event.

    We had a great time.

Thanks Norm and all the attendees for the positive feed back and ideas for next year --

Dave King did a great job with his presentation - his dry sense of humor and knowledge of sailing is a perfect combination - and Bud's Westsail history talk held the audiences attention and filled in a lot of blanks in the story.

So do be thinking of someone to invite for next year's speaker...

Dave showing off his trophy buckle for placing 2nd in the 2010 SHTP!

I have posted many of the photos from our camera and Javier Kim from the event at https://picasaweb.google.com/westsailownersassociation/2011NorthernCaliforniaRendezvous?authuser=0&feat=directlink  I'll be writing up more information later on - unless an attendee would like to contribute.

Dave also thinks that a racing a properly prepared and crewed W42-43 would do very well on corrected times.

I'll be announcing the N CA rondy when our reservation is confirmed by the club.

The rendezvous was Great.  Jay and Pam obviously put a lot of work and effort into this gathering.  The Oregon attendees were welcomed like family. We had a wonderful time re-acquainting with old friends and meeting some new ones.  Thanks to all of you and especially to Jay and Pam.

OH! PS:  At the very last minute I was asked. by Jay, something like "What can the rest of us do to perform more like Saraband"  I hem-ed and ha-ed and didn't answer.   As a general answer to most, I would now say this: " tighten your Luffs and loosen your Sheets".

Thanks again,  We loved it,  Dave & Ruth

There was a request for Pam's Ginger Cookies at the Rendezvous-

    Big Soft Ginger Cookies

    allrecipes.com

    Prep Time:  15 minutes

    Cook Time:  10 minutes

    Ready in:  50 Minutes

    Servings:  24

    Ingredients:

    2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour

    2 teaspoons ground ginger

    1 teaspoon baking soda

    ¾ teaspoon ground cinnamon

    ½ teaspoon ground cloves

    ¼ teaspoon salt

    ¾ cup margarine, softened

    1 cup white sugar

    1 egg

    1 tablespoon water

    ¼ cup molasses

Organic white sugar from Trader Joe’s in which to roll balls of dough

    Directions:

    1.  Preheat oven to 350 Degrees.  Sift together the flour, ginger, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves, and salt.  Set aside.

    2.  In a large bowl, cream together the margarine and 1 cup sugar until light and fluffy.  Beat in the egg, then stir in the water and molasses.  Gradually stir the sifted ingredients into the molasses mixture.  Shape dough into walnut sized balls, and roll them in the remaining 2 tablespoons of sugar.  Place the cookies 2 inches apart onto on to an ungreased cookie sheet, and flattened slightly.

    3.  Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven.  Allow the cookies to cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before removing to wire rack to cool completely.  Store in an airtight container.

    Enjoy

    Pam

    Jay,

How do the forum dates get linked to the posts? Yours are a day ahead of the rest.
