Help in San Francisco ne

    Liberate departed Victoria BC 8 days ago. 780 miles later we are about to enter the bay and head to Emeryville Marina we have issues with our MD17C transmission and need to find local expertise for a removal and repair.

    Back in 2005, the owner made several trips to my boat to revive my MD17C.  He is a Volvo marine mechanic with expertise in these old engines.

    I do apologize for the shoddy grammar in my original post, tried doing this from an iPhone  at the entrance to the bay channel. I will check out 
    Eskelundmarine this morning. Many thanks Linda and John.
    I have a transmission issue where it locks solid after going from forward to reverse and back to forward. It locks hard and stalls the engine.
    Any other suggestions for professional help would be more than welcome.

    I have a rebuilt transmission for a md 11c if yours cannot be fixed.  The one I have in my possession has never been run since its rebuild 2 years ago.  It has been living in a sealed kitty litter bucket next to the boiler in my house. 

    Point:  If you need one, I've got one.  Call me.  I am on the members’ roster.  I live in CT.

    A good ending to my story. SV Liberate has a re-built transmission courtesy of Eskelund Marine. Took 3 weeks to complete, many thanks to Darrel and to all that reached out to help a fellow Westsailor!
    4 days post our departure from SF (Nasty through the Gate) Libeate now basks in San Diego awaiting a mood to head further south....
    The next project....Cockpit coamings....I will start a new thread "in the Yard"
