boom needed asap!

    I'm currently en-route sailing my W32 south to the lesser Antilles for the winter. We experienced a rigging failure and are out of commission in Hatteras, NC. My main boom broke beyond repair. If anyone on the east coast has (or knows) of one, I would be willing to drive and pick it up! Thanks! Fleck

    Check Deaton boatyard, Sailcraft boatyard, and Marine Consignment, all in Orientsl NC.  

    There used to be two old W32s in Orientsl that may have been abandoned.  If there are any parts left over  Orientsl  one of those guys may know about it.  They may also be able to advise you on making a new boom with help from someone near Orientsl.

    Ouch -- sorry to hear of your troubles. 

    Interested in what failed and any pics -- as the rest of us can check our boats:). 

    Options beyond Dick's ideas, Dave King fixed his boom by carving a plug from wood that fit tightly into both broken ends and I believe he is still sailing that way...

    OEM to Westsail for masts and booms - LaFiell - can/has reproduced the original shaped masts and booms -- but this wouldn't be fast - unless they have one in stock.
