I just replaced a two foot shear clamp in the bow. I got it shaped and reinstalled with a little coaxing and some clamps in the right spot. When I took the screws out they were countersunk and the hole filled with what seemed to be wood putty then gel coat over that.. It was soft and the consistency of play dough. Is there something in particular I should use to fill the holes before I seal them with gel coat? I thought wood putty might work. The deck screws are protected by the cap rail, but the hull screws I'm worried about A few coats of gel might be thick enough to not break. I couldn't even see them when I was removing them and thats all that seemed to be covering the "putty". I just probed with a sharp pick and it easily found the screw holes.
