cap rail replacement

    Bud is the pictured teak profile suitable for cap rail replacement? The channel on the bottom side is 3"x1/2".  I have access  to a quantity of it.

    Danny:  That is nice looking teak !! My caprails don't have a rabbet on the bottom and have to be curved to fit the shape of the hull.

    That wood is certainly beautiful, however since the Westsail caprails have such a curve in them, I doubt if you could bend that width around the top of the bulwark.  The Westsail caprails were bandsawed out of wider lumber.

    Thanks for your quick response Bud, I was thinking with some good joinery I could make it around without too much trouble. Do you know the width of the hull with the cap rail removed? thanks

    Approximately 3" wide at the top.
