Hello Bud,
My W32 Number 085 "Immamou"has a track for harken cars for the mainsail. The track is fixed with stainless steel countersunk machine screws about every 5 inches up the mast. Hauling the mainsail up last year I found one screw missing and one had protruded such that the mainsail jambed on the mast and with difficulty I managed to lower the sail.. The question I have is, can the screws corrode on the mast then fail? The tread on the protruding screw was gone as the screw was loose in the mast and must've shaken out to jamb the sail up the mast. Do I need to remove the track and refit it by drilling and re-tapping the holes and, moving it slightly to a new position? The thought of not being able to lower the mainsail doesn't bear thinking about! I had a friend haul me to the masthead and checked each screw for tightness and found all the others OK. I'd be really grateful for your advice
Kindest Regards
