ive had the loose foot staysail on a few of these before, but sailing down with the K32 is the first time ive had the boom.
What I found is its really in the way UNLESS you fit a small preventer line to the end of the boom, so you can lash it off to a forward lower before dropping the sail... this also seemed to work well for broader sailing angles, giving the staysail great shape and keeping it stable even when the boat was rolling...proabbly works for heaving too although maybe rather than the lower, going to the rail is better...
my first thought upon buying was to ditch the boom pronto.. now I see I should spend some more time with it and learn to make it work there seem to be many advantages over what I know form not having a boom. ...
