It's a good time to plan a date to Westsail in 2014. At the risk of being accused of being  a bossy old fart, here are the "rules". There shall be no words allowed such as: maybe, someday, but, if only, gee i want to, if my back didnt hurt, my partner wont let me, etc.

             Here are a few suggestions:

                                               - Sail on January first 2014 (Dave K. must do)

                                               - Set a departure date for extended cruise

                                               - attend a rondezvous

                                               - An overnighter to a nice anchorage

                                               - Take family members for a sail

                                               - Help another owner in exchange for a day sail

Your reply to this post will have a definite date (within two weeks) and if you don't go we will all know and you will know that we know.

                              Lets go sailing   Lee

    Ahoy Lee,

I'm going to dig deep and do the best I can, realizing, of course, that a future is always a bit variable.  After the new years day sail I see Saraband out on the water, goin somewhere, AT LEAST another 51 days in 2014.

    More later,      Dave

Perhaps, Elizabeth Clark Hardy can get Westsailors in the mood:

    The Unknown Shore

Sometime at eve when the tide is low,
I shall slip my mooring and sail away With no response to the friendly hail Of kindred craft in the busy bay. In the silent hush of the twilight pale When the night stoops down to embrace the day And the voices call in the water’s flow…. Sometime at eve when the tide is low I shall slip my mooring and sail away. Through the purple shadows that darkly trail O’er the ebbing tide of the Unknown Sea, I shall fare me away, with a dip of sail And a ripple of waters to tell the tale Of a lonely voyager, sailing away To Mystic Isles where at anchor lay The craft of those who have gone before O’er the Unknown Sea to the Unknown Shore. A few who have watched me sail away Will miss my craft from the busy bay; Some friendly barks that were anchored near, Some loving souls that my heart held dear, In silent sorrow will drop a tearundefined But I shall have peacefully furled my sail In moorings sheltered from storm or gale And greeted friends who have gone before O’er the Unknown Sea to the Unknown Shore.

We will do our best.  We had intended to be sailing in Mexico by now, but have been broke down for over a week in Monterey and may have to change our plans this year.

Steve, thanks for the offer.  All it is a water pump.  A $500.00 Volvo water pump that we had  to have next day aired to Helmutts. Normally a water pump change is no big deal but this one requires the removal of  the injector pump timing belt and pulleys. I know pretty much how to do it but since I never have we have a mechanic coming today to show me how.  If I were in my home port I would do it for sure.

    Thanks again,

    Jim

We have set a date, October 15 2014, to leave Breton Bay and the Chesapeake for 4-6 months of sailing in the Bahamas. Marty loves a plan, and has been steadily focused on renovation for the past two years.  Air Head compost head just installed, electric windlass installed, pressure water system. We are looking at dinghy options, including our old Walker Bay, and researching propane outboards- has anyone used these? Looking forward to Chesapeake rendezvous in September. -Mimi

Makes my heart glow to hear Westsailors using their boat.   Lee   anchored Opunohu Moorea.
