This year’s SoCal Rendezvous will be hosted by Kirk Brown, W32 Ostara, and held at King Harbor Yacht Club, Redondo Beach, CA. Please be aware that the space available for visiting YC cruises that weekend is limited to the guest dock which has 120' of available dock space with electricity and water. Depending on the number of boats attending, the Port Captain may require that you Med-tie or Side-tie to the dock, so please be prepared.

If you are not on the list of clubs that have reciprocal privileges with KHYC, you may belong to clubs with reciprocal privileges. Those boats may stay at the docks for 3 nights free of charge, but must fly their club burgee while at the docks, and the owner's club membership card must be shown at the time they sign in.

If you are not members of reciprocal Yacht Clubs, then the charge for your boats for an overnight stay is a minimum of $25 per night or $.50 per foot per night.

Attached is a welcome letter that explains the club, bar and galley hours of operation, where and how to sign in, as well as other information you will need to know.

Please contact our host, Kirk Brown, by email at 1CPTKIRK@msn.com or cell phone 951-313-3637 at least one week prior to your arrival with the name and number of your boat, and approximate arrival and departure times, so that he or the Port Captain can arrange to have someone available to meet you. If you have any questions regarding the club, please feel free to call the club manager.

Schedule of events:

Friday – May 19

The format will be essentially the same as in the past, with boats and other attendees arriving during the day on Friday. Pot luck on some of the boats or the Galley at the yacht club has appetizers served in the bar on Friday night, 6-8 pm.

Saturday morning – May 20

There will be some muffins and coffee available. The Galley serves breakfast on Saturday, starting at 8:30 am.

Saturday during the day –

Folks are free to roam the docks and visit the boats and renew old acquaintances or make new ones.

Bud will be there, offering his mini-surveys and other bits of wisdom you may or may not need. Bud will also have copies of his “Westsail the World” book for sale, and will sign them for anyone purchasing a book.

Feel free to bring snacks to share with other attendees. We’ll have soft drinks available on the dock. The Galley serves lunch on Saturday until 2 pm.

Kirk will be selling WOA merchandise on Saturday, so bring cash or checks — we aren’t set up for credit cards.

Saturday evening-

Saturday night dinner can be at the Blue Water Grill, which is a short walking distance from the Yacht Club. Be sure and let Kirk know if you will be attending the dinner on Saturday evening, since he will call the restaurant to make final arrangements for our group.

Sunday – May 21

Coffee and pastries will be available. The Galley serves breakfast on Sunday starting at 9:00 am.

Time to say good-byes and head out to your home ports
