    Hi again,

No problem, re: the pin wrench, just let me know when you're done.

I'd recommend Sikaflex 295UV for the porthole glass sealant.  Lexan / plexiglass will likely scratch and fog more easily than the safety glass will.  I'd recommend the laminated safety glass.  We just did all the portholes / portlights on Abake and are very pleased with the safety glass.  Not sure I'd recommend cutting it yourself as the professional glass folks will sand/polish the edges which will prevent cracks.  Good luck.  Mike

    Hi Miriam,

I will post pictures and keep you advised on the replacement. Since Stephen has been kind enough to send the tool, this little project has been moved to the top of the list. I've been looking through this cracked portlight for about ten years now !

    Hey Werner,

    that sounds great! :)

We are reconsidering our Lexan choice and probably will go with the safety glass after all.

I'm looking forward to your experience report and pictures!

    Thank you so much!

    Hi guys,
one more question. Where did you order the window gasket / rubber for your window replacements?
Six of our haws pipes are broken as well. We don't know how they broke, but looks like the spun brass was fairly thin.
I'll check the group buy forum for this too.

    Thanks,
    Miriam

We had to replace one on Satori.  I looked for a glass shop near the marina. I took the frame to them and they did the job in one day. I believe they charged about thirty dollars. Safety glass with polished edges. Being close to the marina they did a lot of boat projects. Ken

    Miriam,

Just an update. Latest score is port light glass 1, Werner 0.

The retaining ring is frozen in place, therefore no pictures.

    Hi Werner,

Just so you know, that tool was only used to get the ring back in, I didn't use it to get it out.

After I smashed out the glass, and cleaned up the threads with a HD brush, the ring came out easily. Maybe some sealant got on your threads?
