Be sure to tell them you’re part of the Westsail Owners Association Rendezvous.
There is generally enough space on the dock for 1 42 and the first three 32’s to arrive. After that, as in past years we have once or twice had to raft the boats, two even three deep, so be prepared if turn-out is good.
As always, the rendezvous is a very informal and casual event with activities based on the number of Westsailors present, their energy level, and the weather. Our primary purpose is to renew old acquaintances, make new ones, tell almost true sea stories and most of all, visit boats and share ideas and updates !
The planned loose schedule will include the following events:
FRIDAY ARRIVAL – July 19 – Arrival and tie up at Pine Avenue Pier, Rainbow Harbor, Long Beach. I’ll have my cell phone on (see number below) and we will be monitoring VHF channel 68 in case anyone is coming in hot (it’s been known to happen). informal socializing on various boats and on the dock throughout the afternoon and evening. Dinner will also be potluck style – so bring something as well as snacks, drinks, and camaraderie to share.
SATURDAY DAY– July 20 – Coffee and doughnuts on the dock provided by WOA, 11 am formal meet and greet and introductions followed by boat visiting. WOA gear shop will be set up.
SATURDAY EVENING – Dinner will be barbeque, delivered dock-side from Famous Dave’s, right at the head of the dock. Cost will be about $20 pp. We’ll need a preliminary dinner count by Friday night, and I’ll be collecting $ Friday evening and up to Sat. noon if you want to be included.
SUNDAY – July 21 – Coffee then cast off the dock lines and head for your homeport or wherever the wind may take you.
Lodging and Exploring: -- There are lots of options for lodging, breakfast and lunch in the immediate Long Beach waterfront area, within walking distance or Aqualink Taxi ride away. This venue is really in the center of the action. Exploring the rest of the Harbor and Long Beach, including Shoreline Village, the Aquarium and 3rd Street Promenade are also great ways to spend a bit of time while in the area.
One more throw-back photo…hard partying weekend and limping home.
