Rocna or Manson Supreme with traditional bowsprit

    Yes yes, I know there is the new tubular bowsprit arrangement but honestly with the 8.4 million projects we have going and the costs we have running it just isn't an option. 

    So my question is... Do any of you with a W32 and the standard bowsprit have a new generation style anchor with roll bar fitted somehow in a seaworthy way?  Can it be done?  What modifications did it take?

    Sorry I don't know the answer to your question.  I also don't know what you mean by the new tubular bowsprit arrangement.   Are there any pictures?

    The tubular bowsprit I refer to is the one that Bud sells. I believe there are full diagrams of it in the manual.  Also I believe some members here have converted and may be able to provide photos.

    I spied a possible solution in the storage yard and uploaded pictures to Picasa.


    I'm seriously considering changing my bowsprit to something like this. The roll bar doesn't seat quite high enough but seems like it would be more secure than what I've got now.
    ...and looks really bad-ass too!

    The bowsprits on the 32 and 28 are pretty similar.  You can see how the Rocna hangs on my bowsprit by checking out this old entry.
    Unlike the speculation in the blog, I never bring the anchor on deck underway.  The most I do is tie the roll bar to the bowsprit platform.  Sure doesn't hang as pretty as the CQR or Bruce but this anchor has been through everything we've been through since we left Newport, OR and seems to ride just fine up there.

    Slightly off topic -- a former W owner - pointed me to this anchor - seen below with custom lettering.  Might fit better on the W32 bow rollers...

    Looks a lot like the new Manson Boss coming out.  Which I'm anxiously awaiting.
