Next project is the bottom!  Following my research, I think I'm going w/Copper coat at this time.  I would appreciate any insight, or poss. alternatives.  I'm not sure what I have on the bottom now, as it was there when I bought the boat.

Hi Brett, in the past I have used Pettit Trinidad it has a very high copper content . It is also a little soft. That is not a bad thing . This last time I did bottom paint I used Z Spar , It has (I think) about the same copper content as the Pettit but is harder and seems to last a little longer. It's been on for four years and still looks good .  Also for fixing blisters and fairing things out I use 3M marine filler . It's just like Bondo but It's made for below the water line .  Good luck !

    Bret,
Some say to find out what the commercial fishermen use where you have your boat most.
Marpro super B is what is used here in Key West most, I haven't used it on my Westsail as I just bought this boat 1-1/2 years ago but I have used it on other boats and absolutely love it.
The cost is pretty good also I think.

It depends a lot on the area you keep your boat. We keep Sea Gypsy (Hull #743) in Florida year round. I have found a paint that is made in Florida by a mom & pop operation in Ft. Myers. It is called Super ShipBottom. You can google it and read the info at their website. It is EXTREMELY high in copper solids. I'm surprised they are still allowed to produce it. I have used it on my last two bottom jobs and have very pleased with the longevity of it. Barnacles hate it. I just re-painted this spring after three blemish free years and found when I hauled that I could have gone another year. I don't openly recommend products to others, but I will this one. Go check it out.
