Has anyone tried Thompson's Water Seal for a water repellant on their dodger or bimini? Any recommendations out there will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Werner

    Werner,

Yeah, Thomson's clear waterseal works great on acrylic and cotton fabrics. They make a version for "tropical" environments that has extra UV and mildew protection, too. Make sure to get the clear variety; they have colored versions that would wreck havoc on your deck.

I always suggest using this stuff to folks who have me make their sail covers. It's a LOT cheaper than 3M 303. Also, camping supply stores sell waterproofer for nylon tents; it's a bit more expensive but does the trick.

    Cheers,
    Aaron N.

Thanks Aaron. I ran across your Picasa site a couple of days ago through a search on the old web site. There are some great pictures there of all the work accomplished on Asia Marie. I think that a link posted somewhere on the new site would be helpful to the Association members so that we can continue to steal your ideas. I just finished building a microwave cabinet for the galley and plan to begin work on the Norlund Bunk next week.

    Werner
