how should I expect removing the mizzen on a W42 and sailing it as a sloop to effect the balance ..what is the normal in this case ...move mast ...or ?

It will definitely effect the balance of sailing trim, since the cutter mast is located at the aft end of the mast step riser, and the ketch mainmast at the forward end of the mast step riser.  Without the mizzen up with a full main and jib, you would be moving the center of effort of the sailplan (or lead as it is referred to) forward, and the sailplan would not be balanced, so you would have to use the rudder to keep the boat sailing on a course, there by slowing the boat down.  The sailplan would carry lee helm, and you would have have a hard time tacking.

So you should probably talk with a sailmaker to see what he would recommend.
